Renovation and modernization of the National Scene of the Espace des Arts in Chalon-sur-Saône.

The Espace des Arts is one of the first large French buildings that offered access for all to Culture. Its renovation and modernization raises the question of the stakes that underlie it: from the comfort of the spectator to the identity of a city in its region, from the upholstery of an armchair to the relations of the territory, everything is concerned.
This building, beyond its constructive and historical value, is also above all an intangible heritage. The memory of the place is the true root we want to preserve for this project. This allows us to better consider the constructive aspects of this architecture inherited from a lost modernity.
The program includes 3 auditoriums (850, 500 and 100 seats), exhibition spaces, cafés, residences and spaces for artists. The visibility and the access to the place are facilitated by an important work at the level of the reception and by the opening on the square of the space under the overhang of the great room.
